About SAIG.
SAIG — the Foundation for the Advancement of AI Literacy — is an independent institute. We issue the standard for AI literacy and certify the individuals who meet it. We do not provide training ourselves and we do not act as a supervisor; those roles lie with others.
Mission and positioning
One testable standard, independently managed.
Article 4 of the EU AI Act calls for demonstrable AI literacy but leaves open what that literacy must entail. SAIG fills that gap: one recognisable standard with four levels, informed by international certification practices, so that a SAIG certificate carries the same meaning for employers, supervisors and the labour market.
Not a training provider
We develop the scheme and the assessment. Training is delivered by accredited training partners.
Not a supervisor
Statutory supervision of the AI Act rests with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the RDI and sectoral authorities.
Independent scheme owner
SAIG manages the standard and takes the certification decision — separate from commercial interests.
Independence and governance
One board, external delivery.
SAIG is governed by a single independent foundation board that sets the certification scheme, takes certification decisions and handles objections and complaints. Assessment delivery and development are outsourced to external contract parties.
Trust
Independent and testable.
Based on certification practices
Scheme, assessment and certification decision are organised in line with international certification practices.
Mapped to Article 4
A direct translation of Article 3(56) and Article 4 of the AI Act, aligned with the DPA guidance.
ANBI status
SAIG is a non-profit foundation with ANBI status since 2025; the standard serves a public interest.
Public register
Every issued certificate is verifiable through a closed, GDPR-compliant register and QR code.
Note.SAIG is set up in line with international certification practices and aims for lasting quality assurance. Formal accreditation is not claimed.
